Certificate II in Retail

The Certificate II in Retail course will give you the skills and knowledge required to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring basic retail operational knowledge and limited practical skills in a defined context. Work would be undertaken in various retail store settings,such as specialty stores,supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets.

Individuals may work with some autonomy or in a team but usually under close supervision

Dress Requirements
Business attire appropriate to the sector.

Prerequisites
English, reading, writing and comprehension skills. Ability to use and analyse simple data, relation and pattern, number, measurement and shape.

Assessment
Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to perform specific skills, and a combination of observation, discussion, written assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects. Students are required to attend tests and examinations as scheduled by BETA College.

Course Units
There are nine core units that you must complete and a minimum of five elective units. Three elective units must be selected from Elective Units Group A - General Selling - or from Group B - General Food Selling.

Two other elective units must be selected from the General Elective units. It is possible to select up to two elective units from another endorsed Training Package but these units must come from within a Certificate II or Certificate III qualification in the parent training package.

In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome, local industry requirements and the characteristics of this qualification (as per the AQF descriptors).
